2048 Quest: Roguelike Merge

Privacy Policy

Draft. This policy is a working draft and will be reviewed before the game is released on Google Play. Wording may change. The data practices described here reflect the current build.

2048 Quest: Roguelike Merge ("the Game") is developed by Vadzim Sharai, an independent developer based in Georgia, publishing under the name Felimentix ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the Game collects, why, how long we keep it and how you can delete it.

In short

  • You do not need an account, email or password to play. The Game signs you in anonymously and gives you a random Player ID.
  • We collect gameplay analytics and crash reports so we can fix bugs and balance the game.
  • Your progress is saved to the cloud so it survives reinstalls. If you join the leaderboard, the username you choose is shown publicly.
  • We do not collect your name, email, contacts, precise location, photos or payment details. The Game currently shows no ads.
  • You can delete your account and data by emailing us, and from within the Game once in-app deletion ships in the upcoming build. See Deleting your data below.

What we collect

The Game uses Google Firebase as its backend. The following data is processed:

Anonymous Player ID

When you first launch the Game, Firebase Authentication creates an anonymous user and assigns a random identifier (the "Player ID" or "UID"). It does not contain your name, email or device serial number. It lets us attach your cloud save and leaderboard entry to your installation. Deleting the Game or its data creates a new Player ID; the old one can no longer be linked to you.

Gameplay analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to record gameplay events such as session start, run started or finished, level reached, tile merged, relic picked, quest completed, screen viewed and settings changed. Each event carries the Player ID, an app instance identifier, the app version, device model, operating system version, language and coarse region (derived by Google from the IP address, which we do not see or store). We use this data only in aggregate to understand how the Game is played, find difficulty spikes and prioritize fixes.

Crash reports

We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive reports when the Game crashes or hits a non-fatal error. A report includes the stack trace, app version, device model, OS version, free memory and disk space, and the Player ID so we can correlate a crash with a cloud save that may have triggered it. Crash reports never include your leaderboard username or any text you enter.

Cloud save

Your game progress (unlocked biomes, completed quests, best tiles, statistics, relics, settings and similar) is stored in Cloud Firestore under your Player ID so that it can be restored after a reinstall or on a new device. Only your own installation can read or write it.

Leaderboard username

If you choose to appear on the leaderboard, you pick a username. We store that username together with your best level, score and last update time. This is the only data in the Game that is visible to other players. Please do not use your real name or other personal information as your username.

Remote configuration

The Game fetches balance values and feature flags from Firebase Remote Config. Requests carry the app instance identifier and the same device properties as analytics so that we can roll out changes gradually. No additional personal data is sent.

Game content

Art, maps and level data are downloaded from our content delivery network on Cloudflare. Cloudflare sees your IP address and standard request headers as part of serving the files and may keep short-lived logs for security and performance. We do not receive or store per-player logs from the CDN.

What we do not collect

  • No name, email address, phone number or postal address, unless you email us yourself.
  • No password. Anonymous sign-in only.
  • No precise or background location.
  • No contacts, photos, microphone or camera access.
  • No advertising identifier and no advertising SDKs. The Game currently shows no ads. If this changes, we will update this policy and the in-app disclosure before shipping such a build.
  • No in-app purchases in the current build, so no payment data.
  • No data sold to third parties, ever.

Why we process this data

  • To run the Game: anonymous authentication, cloud save and the leaderboard are needed to provide the features you use (performance of a contract / legitimate interest).
  • To keep the Game working: crash reports and analytics let us find bugs and balance issues (legitimate interest).
  • With your choice: the leaderboard username is stored only if you opt in by entering one.

How long we keep it

  • Cloud save and leaderboard entry: until you delete your account. We plan to remove inactive accounts that have not been opened for 24 months.
  • Analytics events: we plan to keep Google's default setting, under which Google Analytics for Firebase retains user-level event data for 14 months. After that only aggregated reports remain.
  • Crash reports: Firebase Crashlytics retains crash data for 90 days.
  • Support emails: we plan to delete them 12 months after the request is closed.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and all data tied to your Player ID in two ways:

  1. In the Game: Settings, then Profile, then Delete account (available in the upcoming build).
  2. By email: write to contact@felimentix.com with your Player ID (shown under Settings, then Profile).

Deletion removes the Firebase Authentication user, the cloud save, the leaderboard entry and, where technically possible, the association between your Player ID and analytics or crash data. Requests are completed within 30 days.

Children

The Game is not directed at children and is intended for players aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided a leaderboard username or other data, contact us and we will delete it.

Third parties

We share data only with the service providers that run the Game's backend:

  • Google LLC, Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Google Analytics for Firebase, Crashlytics, Remote Config). See Privacy and Security in Firebase.
  • Cloudflare, Inc., the content delivery network for game assets and the host of this website. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
  • Google Play, app distribution and, in the future, in-app purchases. Google's own policies apply to data Google collects through the Play Store.

These providers process data on our behalf and may store it on servers outside the country you live in, including in the United States and the European Union. We rely on their standard contractual safeguards for such transfers.

Security

Data is transmitted over TLS. Cloud saves and leaderboard writes are protected by Firebase security rules so that an installation can only modify its own records. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data in transit or at rest.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, to object to or restrict certain processing and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because we hold almost no data that identifies you directly, most requests can be satisfied by the deletion process above. For anything else, email us with your Player ID.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the Game's data practices change and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will also be announced inside the Game before they take effect.
